Description

Lucius Elder taught English at Knox College before being simultaneously promoted to professor and librarian in 1923. This bookplate includes a quote from Chaucer's "Parliament of Fowls" ('And out of old bokes in good feith cometh al this new science that men lere [read]') and a bit of Middle English of his own composition: 'Lo, in likewise of books I have stored. And ample space philosophy is thine.'
